President sidesteps scandal at the mic of 11 year-old reporter

08/15/2009 § 0

Damon Weaver, an 11 year-old reporter for Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary school’s KEC TV station, delivers stealth questions in an interview with President Obama on education, bullying, basketball skills, and french fries and mangoes.

In a heated moment, Mr. Weaver insists on having french fries and mangoes everyday for lunch, the President says no and goes on to school Mr. Weaver on where mangoes are grown. Mr. Weaver, upset at the President’s response, fires back with a trick question, trying to catch the President off guard. Mr. Weaver says: I know that as President, you get booty calls alot, how do you handle that? Mr. Weaver threw out the bait in one of the first real tests of the President’s character. The President is about to answer the question then he stumbles, turns a deaf ear and asks Mr. Weaver: As President, I get what? Mr. Weaver rephrases the question: Bullied a lot? The President clarifies: Bullied, you mean people say mean things about me? The President, playing a game of naivete, successfully rewrote the question himself and avoided a mammoth scandal.

Mr. Weaver, again goes for the jugular and draws an admission from the President that he, in fact, cannot dunk a basketball. Don’t believe it? See it for yourself, our President can’t dunk…………..

Four stars for Mr. Weaver’s reportorial savvy.
